What would our cities look like without art, music and culture? For our society, it is essential that any form of culture will continue to exist. Therefore, together with songwriters, musicians and dancers from Hamburg, we are sending out an #SOSfürdieKunst for the cultural community. As an outcome, we have created a song called ‘Pulse’. Besides, we have created a Spotify playlist, which enables our community to show their support.
To stand up, and fight for, the arts and cultural community you can listen to the song and share it on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer or any other well-known streaming service. The money earned, will be equally divided among all participating artists. The artists will also compile the #SOSfürdieKunst playlist on Spotify, to support as many artists as possible during these turbulent times.
As a musical SOS for the cultural sector, which is struggling at the moment, ‘Puls’ was written together with Hamburg-based hip-hop, soul, and R&B collective ESO.ES, Fayzen, MQN, Mimi Demissie and Dazzit. Together with cellist Hagen Kuhr and local dancers, they recorded an inspiring music video.
With its meaningful lyrics, the video calls for more solidarity with the artists, especially to those who are financially threatened due to the current situation. The lyrics make a statement about the courage to keep on going, being strong together and to focus on optimism in the here and now.
At the same time, the video shows the diversity within the art scene that actually creates the ‘pulse’ and makes the heart of the city beat. It was shot at Hamburger Kunsthalle and in an empty Barclaycard Arena and it clearly communicates one strong message: to keep the cultural scene alive, we all have to engage and be part of it. Only together, we can make a difference.
We at MOIA consider ourselves a partner of city life and we want to engage with our communities. Of course, this includes the art scene and the cultural communities of Hamburg. We want to show empathy towards everyone suffering from the current crisis, and we believe that creativity and showing a positive mindset can contribute to improving lives.
By having a look behind the scenes, we can show you the people who contributed to this project, to spreading this message and to translating this idea into word, image and sound. A big thank you to everyone involved!

He feels at home in the space between different cultural traditions, such as the influence of his Ghanaian father and the artistic background of his mother. By combining these different backgrounds, he creates something highly personal and unique.
Farsad Zoroofchi, aka Fayzen, has long been a recognized name in the German music scene. As a rapper, he sold over 20,000 self-produced mixtapes to pave his way to a major record deal. With his new label, he released the two albums “Meer” and “Gerne allein”.
Malte Kuhn, aka MQN, is a producer and songwriter. He combines influences of pop, hip-hop, R & B, soul, and jazz to form a unique sound that the YouTube world celebrates with millions of clicks. He has previously worked with artists such as Cro, Samy Deluxe, and Kris Lawrence live and in studio.
This Hamburg native with German and Ethiopian roots started as a backing vocalist for major acts such as Samy Deluxe and Joy Denalane. With her soul cover band “Uptight” and studio sessions with other artists, she has developed her very special, fantasy-filled style as a singer-songwriter.
Newcomer Kofi Asare, aka DAZZIT, released his first big hit as a feature on the song “Sick” by Disarstar in October 2020. He is part of the songwriting and production team “prod. By Havs” and collaborated on productions of and for Disarstar, King LX, ESO.ES, and Nura, among others.
Hagen Kuhr is a cellist, composer, arranger, and Hamburg local. Following his work for musical orchestras at Hamburg’s Stage Theater Neue Flora and Operettenhaus, he is now a live and studio musician collaborating with artists such as Jon Lord (Deep Purple), Udo Lindenberg, Peter Maffay, and Die Ärzte.
