ID. Buzz AD: world premiere at the UITP Summit 2025

The series version of the ID. Buzz AD – ‘AD’ stands for ‘Autonomous Driving’ – celebrated its world premiere in Hamburg on 17 June 2025 at the UITP summit. One of the world's most important congresses for local public transport provided the ideal stage for unveiling the new autonomous vehicle.

Following the MOIA +6 based on the VW Crafter, the ID. Buzz AD is MOIA’s second vehicle developed specially for ridepooling. Both are fully electric; however, only the ID. Buzz AD features an advanced self-driving system.

Equipped with 13 cameras, nine laser scanners (LiDAR), and five radar sensors, the vehicle generates a complete, redundant image of its surroundings. Combined with precise map data, intelligent route planning, and cloud-based system updates, this ensures safe and seamless operation in urban traffic.

For the self-driving system, MOIA relies on Mobileye, one of the world's leading specialists in driver assistance and autonomous driving technologies. In line with legal requirements, the Level 4 ridepooling vehicle includes redundant systems for braking, steering, and energy supply.

The ID. Buzz AD offers four comfortable individual seats.

Inside the ID. Buzz AD, passengers can expect MOIA’s high standards of comfort. Like the MOIA +6, the ID. Buzz AD is designed with passengers’ needs in mind. The extended wheelbase and higher roofline ensure barrier-free access to four comfortable seats.

There is also ample luggage space. Two separate compartments, one at the front and one at the rear, accommodate suitcases and bags with ease.

The ID. Buzz AD is also suitable for carrying luggage.

Booking the autonomous ID. Buzz AD is just as simple as ever. At the pick-up point, access is granted via smartphone or PIN pad, and the doors open and close automatically.

The vehicle doors can be opened using the pin pad.

Safety is also a priority inside the ID. Buzz AD. Yellow seatbelts and grab handles offer visual guidance, while tactile elements, Braille labelling, and seat-side control buttons make the vehicle accessible for all. Real-time monitoring of each vehicle further enhances safety.

Yellow belts and handles ensure quick orientation.

The ID. Buzz AD is part of MOIA’s comprehensive solution for autonomous mobility. In addition to the vehicle, this includes a software ecosystem and a suite of services for autonomous mobility providers.

With this offering, MOIA provides both public and private mobility providers with a turnkey solution for launching scalable and safe autonomous services quickly.
