To make sure autonomous ridepooling fits seamlessly into your day, we’re putting our vehicles to the test in actual city traffic – backed by top-tier safety standards and cutting-edge tech.
More than just a test, each ride is a chance to learn how our systems perform and how the autonomous ridepooling experience feels for real passengers. With trained safety drivers and live driving scenarios in Hamburg, Munich, and Austin, we’re building a safe, reliable service that’s ready for daily life – and we’re just getting started.
Hamburg
Our hometown of Hamburg is a testbed for future mobility services.
Hamburg is helping us shape what autonomous ridepooling will look like in real life. In close collaboration with the city, and as part of the local public transportation network, we’re exploring how new tech can enhance everyday urban mobility.*
With strong city partnerships and a forward-thinking mindset, it’s the ideal place to test - from busy boulevards to quiet neighborhoods. Live operations, special scenario testing, and early rider programs will give us valuable feedback straight from the streets. Over several months, we’ll carry out live operations and targeted scenario tests with trained safety drivers on board.
The first rides with selected test users will begin soon, giving us valuable insights from real, everyday experiences.

Austin
In Austin, Texas, we’ve been testing on public roads since 2023, refining our tech across a wide range of traffic conditions. As always, trained safety drivers are behind the wheel during each ride.
Austin’s openness to innovation makes it the perfect place for us to push our technology forward. In partnership with city and state officials, we’re building more than just smarter vehicles: we’re building trust through transparency, local collaboration, and real-world results.

Munich
In Munich, our autonomous vehicles are being put through their paces on public roads and our dedicated autonomous test track. Without passengers on board, we’re trialing software updates, complex traffic scenarios, and emergency drills in a safe, controlled setting.
We also bring in city officials, politicians, emergency services, and industry experts to get their perspectives and prepare for smooth integration into public life. More than just testing, we’re building confidence from the ground up.

Safety always comes first
We’re building an autonomous ridepooling system you can trust. That means real-world testing, clear legal oversight, and innovative and functional safety features, from advanced sensors to expertly trained backup drivers.
Smart, autonomous, alert
Our autonomous MOIAs react in real time to their surroundings. They always follow traffic rules, spot dangerous situations early, and reduce human error. With 13 cameras, 9 lidar sensors, and 5 radar units, the vehicles’ system processes the road ahead in milliseconds. When needed, our fleet control center is always on stand-by to step in remotely.
Safety drivers you can rely on
During the test phase, all autonomous MOIAs are staffed with specially trained safety drivers. These pros know the autonomous driving system inside out. They also stay sharp with a combination of hands-on and classroom training, meaning they’re always ready to take control at any time.
Built within the rules
Our vehicles are developed under Germany’s autonomous driving law and in constant coordination with public authorities and emergency services. This ensures that our autonomous vehicles respond exactly how they should, even in critical situations like forming an emergency lane.
