Autonomous mobility is currently one of the most exciting topics in the automotive industry. This could be seen at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich: at a wide variety of booths, numerous providers showcased their ideas for new technologies and solutions. Together with Volkswagen, MOIA was right in the middle of it.
MOIA presents Turnkey Solution at IAA Mobility 2025
The kick-off for IAA Mobility was the Volkswagen Media Preview, where Christian Senger, CEO of Volkswagen Autonomous Mobility, presented our globally unique MOIA Turnkey Solution to the international press – a complete package for autonomous mobility. In addition to the autonomous vehicle, the ID. Buzz AD, and the corresponding software ecosystem, the solution also includes various operator services, called Operator Enablement.

Autonomous Test Rides at IAA 2025
What it feels like to drive autonomously in real urban traffic could be experienced first-hand by selected media representatives and political stakeholders on-site, including German Federal Minister of Transport Patrick Schnieder, Christian Bernreiter, Bavarian State Minister Transport, Dieter Reiter, Mayor of Munich, and Hubert Aiwanger, Minister of Economic Affairs of Bavaria. With our ID. Buzz AD, we offered test drives from the exhibition grounds through Munich’s city streets.

In addition to politicians and the press, Jürgen Muth, Managing Director of Allianz Arena, and Stefan Effenberg, former FC Bayern player, also took a ride fully autonomously to the Allianz Arena. They were able to experience how autonomous mobility already works today.

At IAA Mobility in Munich, we are sending a clear message: autonomous mobility “Made in Europe” is ready for deployment. By 2030, autonomous driving will be part of everyday life for millions of people in Europe. “With our MOIA Turnkey Solution, we offer both public and private operators everything from a single source – vehicle, software, and services, market-ready, safe, and scalable,” says Sascha Meyer, CEO of MOIA. “This not only allows us to address challenges such as driver shortages or limited coverage in rural areas, but also to enable a new type of mobility, that is flexible, comfortable, and affordable.”

Panel Discussion with German Federal Minister of Transport Patrick Schnieder
The opportunity to establish Germany as the world’s leading market for autonomous mobility was the subject of a panel discussion between Christian Senger and Sascha Meyer, together with Oliver Blume, CEO of Volkswagen AG and Porsche AG, Henrik Falk, Chairman of the Board of BVG, and Federal Minister of Transport Patrick Schnieder. The potential for Germany and Europe to take a leading role in autonomous mobility, as well as the importance of public acceptance and suitable framework conditions, was repeatedly emphasized.
“The future is now. Market readiness is right in front of us,” explained Christian Senger. Oliver Blume highlighted the international ambitions of the group: “With our 360-degree approach, we are globally unique – not only for the transport of people but also for goods.”

The panelists agreed that metropolitan areas must first serve as model regions before the technology can be rolled out more broadly. Minister of Transport Patrick Schnieder stated: “We must move from experimentation to real-world operations.” The federal government is already supporting this with various funding programs. Schnieder predicted that by the next IAA in 2027, significant progress in autonomous mobility will be visible in Germany and Europe.
Overall, the discussion highlighted a shared ambition: Germany has the know-how and the industrial base, but coordinated action will determine its future leadership role in autonomous mobility. Germany could become the leading market for autonomous mobility if the right framework conditions are created.
