MOIA America to deploy autonomous ID. Buzz vehicles on the Uber platform in Los Angeles by the end of 2026

Belmont and San Francisco, California – MOIA America, LLC, a Volkswagen Group company working on autonomous mobility technology, and Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:UBER), today announced the start of on-road validation testing of purpose-built, autonomous ID. Buzz vehicles in Los Angeles, marking the next phase of their strategic partnership introduced last year.

MOIA plans to scale its fleet during the testing phase to more than 100 autonomous ID. Buzz vehicles with onboard human operators to supervise the validation of autonomous vehicle technology. The autonomous ID. Buzz is core element of MOIA’s turnkey autonomous mobility platformRides on the Uber platform are planned for late 2026.

MOIA America and Uber first introduced their strategic partnership in April 2025 and have since opened a joint facility in Los Angeles for day-to-day fleet operationsMOIA America and Uber plan to scale a fleet of thousands of autonomous ID. Buzz vehicles, supporting shared goal to introduce driverless ride-hailing services together in multiple U.S. markets.

In early 2026, Volkswagen ADMT, LLC was renamed MOIA America, LLC, which connects to MOIA’s established footprint in Europe, where its Volkswagen Group affiliate operates one of Europe’s largest ride pooling services while advancing autonomous vehicle testing in cities including Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, and Oslo. This work is helping build the operational, regulatory, and technological foundation needed to bring autonomous mobility into everyday urban transportation.
