MOIA & UITP unite to accelerate Autonomous On-Demand Mobility

In July 2025, MOIA and the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to chart a path for integrating Autonomous On-Demand Mobility into existing public-transport networks.

MOIA & UITP unite to accelerate Autonomous On-Demand Mobility

Why public transport partnerships matter

MOIA’s mission has always been to complement and strengthen public-transport ecosystems, not compete with them. Being a trusted collaborator of public-transport operators worldwide allows MOIA to accelerate deployment, build public trust and deliver autonomous mobility solutions that serve the many, not the few.

Key activities under the MoU include:

  • In collaboration with UITP Regional Training Centre Hamburg, host joint workshops and webinars for UITP members on flexible, autonomous on demand transport covering topics such as service design, fleet simulation, operational models, regulatory frameworks, digital integration, and public acceptance.

  • Conduct live demonstrations using MOIA’s Autonomous On-Demand Mobility system, inviting UITP members, public authority representatives, and selected industry stakeholders to participate in autonomous test rides.

  • Development of materials on acceptance communication of autonomous mobility within public transport in the EU and the US.

  • Explore common actions on EU policies in the field of autonomous mobility integrated into public transport systems.

  • Explore a common position on the global cooperation between the AV industry and public transport industry, in collaboration with the UITP Working Group on Automated Mobility.

By breaking these activities into focused workstreams, both parties will ensure every stakeholder – from city authorities to operators and end-users – will benefit from these joint activities.
