The Lebenshilfe for people with disabilities was founded in 1960 by parents of disabled children as an association for self-help in Hamburg. Today, it supports the concerns of people with disabilities and their families nationwide.
In over 1,200 facilities and services, the association offers concrete support in all areas of life. With the support of volunteer work, membership fees and donations, Lebenshilfe advises and informs people with disabilities and their families, offers self-help groups and adult education as well as health promotion and even has an ambulant care service.
Two concepts are particularly central to the work of Lebenshilfe:
self-determination and inclusion.
The Lebenshilfe wants to support people with disabilities and their families. All auxiliary offers have in common that the aid is geared to the individual needs and desires of the people: People with disabilities should determine and shape their lives as far as possible themselves. Especially mobility can play an important role.
At the same time, people with disabilities, like other people, are equal members of our society. They have a right to participate in social life. Mobility is also an important key factor for this. Lebenshilfe supports people in this right and is committed to achieving an inclusive society together.
If you want to support the Lebenshilfe Hamburg additionally, the association can use any help well and is happy about any financial support, so that people with disabilities in our city can live in a self-determined and inclusive way.
